The first class offered is Puppy Kindergarten, which is mostly
socialization but adds in a bit of training too. The puppies LOVE
it!
Here, Khana (Chow) plays with her puppy class buddies.
Roxie (Shiba Inu) learns to shake paws with a youngster at puppy
class.

One of the many classes offered at PenDOG is flyball
class. This is a fun event for dogs and handlers. Dogs race
down over four hurdles, hit a box which releases a tennis ball
which they must bring back over the four hurdles to the handler.
A young Springer Spaniel practices hurdles to
the far left; Trick returns with a tennis ball; and Khana clears
a hurdle (right).

Rally is a great class that takes obedience and makes it into
a game. Handlers follow a course made up of signs that indicate
what to do at that "station". It's fast-paced and
fun! Handlers can talk to their dogs constantly and praise throughout
the course.
Baron (Akita) and Copper (Brittany) practice rally courses
with their handlers at a PenDOG class.

Agility has become a very popular dog sport.
Contestants run their dogs through a variety of obstacles, which
the dogs must negotiate cleanly. Time counts, so speed is important
too!
To the left, participants in an agility class pose with their
dogs. At right, Tsunami (Shiba Inu) trots up the teeter.

Agility classes usually start indoors where control is easier.
At the far right, a Golden Retriever clears the broad jump inside
our facility. Next is a Great Dane on the table obstacle.
As the dogs and handlers become more experienced, classes move
outside. Here, Lil Bit (Rottweiler) practices the teeter.

One of our most popular classes is obedience. Everyone wants
a dog that minds! To keep the class fun, informative and interesting,
our instructors ofen include obstacles. These obstacles help the
dogs learn confidence and balance as well as just plain being
fun to do.
In the first photo, the instructor is showing the dog a treat
on a target. The second photo is a young lab practicing a down
stay.

And, of course, the ultimate goal is to have our dogs be active
parts of our lives!
Casey (Golden Retriever) hunts pheasants with her owners in the
photo to the left. To the right, Trick (German Shepherd) fetches
a beer from the fridge, while Kylee (Chow) retrieves a glove during
a tracking session.
