OBEDIENCE
CLASSES
|
|
Puppy
Kindergarten: Puppy Kindergarten meets on Friday nights
at the training facility. Join anytime. First time puppies
come at 6:00, the rest of the pups come at 6:30. The class
focuses on socialization of puppies under the age of 4 months,
and includes basic instruction in obedience.

|
Beginning
Obedience/Levels Classes: PenDOG Instructors offer a
variety of basic classes. Beginning Obedience is based on
motivational methods (some use clickers). Owners are taught
to understand training techniques, and how to teach their
dogs to sit, down, stay, walk on a loose leash, give attention
and come when called.

|
Family
Dog Class - The Family Dog class is a basic obedience
class with a focus on the family dog and how to avoid or
work through behavior problems.
|
|
Obedience
II and III - these classes continue on from the beginning
obedience classes. More emphasis is put on handling skills,
while the dogs become more solid in the beginning exercises
and learn new behaviors. These classes help owners and dogs
to prepare for novice competition, if desired.
|
|
Competition
Open Obedience - This class prepares handlers and dogs
for competition in Open level obedience trials. Retrieving,
jumps, off-leash heeling, and out-of-sight stays are some
of the exercises taught. This is also an excellent class
for people who just want a finely tuned companion dog.
|
|
Rally
Obedience - Rally is a relatively new style of competition
obedience. It allows for a motivational and highly enthusiastic
style in the ring, and handlers follow instructions on cards
as they move through the exercises. This class is fun for
dogs and handlers both!

AGILITY
CLASSES
Beginning
Agility - Agility is a sport that
has developed into a popular competition within the last
decade or so. Dogs navigate through a course of obstacles,
including a variety of jumps, tunnels, A-frame, dog walk,
pause table, teeter-totter and weave poles.
Here
at PenDOG we offer classes from beginning agility on through
competition. Students in agility find that it can result
in an intense bonding between dogs and owners, and this
fast-paced sport is a lot of fun for both.
Beginning
agility classes usually start in the fall/early winter and
again in Jan/Feb. Contact us for the next class! Classes
continue on through obstacles, sequencing and competition
levels.

PLEASE
NOTE:
All students bringing dogs into the PenDOG facility must first
show proof of their dog's current vaccination status. This means
an invoice or receipt from your veterinarian showing the dog is
current on the Rabies vaccination and also on Distemper/Parvo.
Bordetella (kennel cough) is recommended but not required. Other
vaccinations are at owner's discretion.
